Something I read in a popular message board about Madrid:
Matt: Hi, my friend and I are looking to take a trip this summer to either London or Madrid. We have been to Madrid once with a school trip but didn't really get to experience the nightlife. We aren't big dancers but we love to meet people and have some drinks. Is London or Madrid a better place, in your opinion, to drink and hangout/party?
Iowa: I have a feeling you're going to get the same response from everyone here: MADRID!! Not even a close call for me. I spent a week in London after studying in Madrid for 6 months during college and it was no comparison to going out in Madrid. There are discotecas and bars open around the clock in Madrid. The people are much friendlier and you can walk into virtually any tapas bar and meet lots of people. So I would definitely have to cast my vote for Madrid--its nightlife is one of its most famous features!
El Boqueron: Well! As a Brit, and one who has lived and worked in London, I am bound to say that the best place is ... Madrid! Without a shadow of a doubt. The only thing London has over Madrid is variety of restaurants, particularly high quality "ethnic" cuisine. But frankly, who cares? Especially if you like Spanish food.Madrid is also a lot cheaper to stay at, the Hostales in the center are great value. London has nothing like them. As you might say in the US, it's really a no-brainer.
